Annual report 2024

The year 2024 was a historically successful one for RAI Amsterdam. With a record revenue of €185.7 million – an increase of nearly 25% on 2023 – and an operating result of €20 million, the RAI strengthened its position as a leading venue for conferences and events. This growth was driven in part by an increase in the number of events: a total of 338 gatherings, attracting nearly 1.5 million visitors. RAI also continued to expand its international position with seven RAI-owned events abroad, including the first edition of Aquatech China.
 
In addition, significant steps were taken in the area of sustainability. In 2024, RAI Amsterdam supplied modular stand constructions to 6,300 exhibitors, resulting in substantial savings in CO₂ emissions and transport movements. On the HR front, RAI stood out with a low staff absenteeism rate of just 2.9%. This can be attributed to a clear focus on well-being, inclusion and equal opportunities. The diversity policy was further strengthened with initiatives such as anonymous recruitment, equal internship remuneration and internal awareness days. An additional highlight came in April when RAI Amsterdam was named ‘Best International Venue’ at the Exhibition News Awards.

In 2024, RAI and the Municipality of Amsterdam signed an agreement to start the transformation of the local area, committing both parties to developing the RAI’s location in a future-proof manner that contributes to the urban ambitions of the city.

Looking ahead to 2025, the agenda remains full. The focus in the coming years will be on expanding the exhibition portfolio and sustainable area development, with an emphasis on connection, densification and sustainability.
